BIO

Dr Lindeque initially qualified and worked as an optometrist in 2005, then completed his undergraduate medical degree at the University of Witwatersrand in 2012. He completed his medical internship at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, and his community service as an outreach doctor.

In 2016 he joined the WITS ophthalmology department as a medical officer, and then a medical registrar shortly thereafter. During this period he has presented cases at academic conferences and published two papers in top South African Ophthalmological journals.

In 2020, despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Lindeque completed his masters degree in ophthalmology, and was one of only two WITS registrars to be awarded a fellowship in ophthalmology.

Dr Lindeque is passionate about community service. As of January 2021, he has started up a cataract service at the Pholosong public hospital in Tsakane on weekday mornings. He consults in private in the afternoons.

His interests outside of work include musical composition and performance, gardening, the outdoors, and family outings.
